The Baker’s Stone Bakery is one of Republic’s hidden restaurant jewels. Locals know and rave about its baked goods, salads, and sandwiches; and travelers should make a point not to miss it. It is located one block behind Republic’s main street, within easy walking distance of any business, motel, or inn in town. Open Monday through Friday, they make bagels and cinnamon buns daily, and rotate through different varieties of breads each day. When they aren’t making breads, they’re serving freshly made salads and sandwiches, and in the colder months a tasty soup of the day (e.g., potato, minestrone, and mushroom). They have a good selection of salad dressings, and salad and sandwich ingredients, and their all-ready-good sandwiches are made even better served up on freshly baked bread. Eat in at one of their three tables, or ask for take out. If you’re headed there for a bagel, they also sell sides of cream cheese.
