January

  • Jan 9.There will be a special Benefit Concert and Spaghetti Feed to raise money in support of the recent Curlew Fire victims as well as for a Community Disaster Relief Fund.  Both events will be held at the Curlew Civic Hall this Saturday, January 9th. The Concert begins at noon and the Spaghetti Feed begins at 3:00 p.m. The concert is "by donation" at the door and will feature several local musical groups.  The cost of the spaghetti meal is $5.00 per person.  Both events will run until 6:00 p.m.  Call (509) 779-4716 for more information.
  • Jan 16. The Curlew Civic Club is holding their first BINGO of 2010 on Saturday, January 16th at the Curlew Civic Hall. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and games will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Visit curlewcivicclub.org for upcoming BINGO dates or call (509) 779-4716 for more information.
  • Jan 17. The Malo Grange is holding Family Fun Night Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the hall. The Grange will provide a soup and salad dinner and a warm hall to stretch out in. Blaine Lindgren and Sandy Prettie will provide entertainment and lead a musical jam. White Elephant drawings 'till they are gone. Bring your family, a dessert to share, and a white elephant gift for each member of your party. Also, bring a board or card game to play and teach others.

February

  • March 20. The 7th-Annual Spring Fling Dance and Dessert Auction is scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Malo Grange! Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The exciting Silent Dessert Auction runs from 6:15 - 6:45 p.m., and features only nine spectacular, scrumptious desserts.   • April 10. Curlew Presbyterian Church's annual Spring Plant Sale and Grandma's Attic Rummage Sale will be held on 10 Main Street in Curlew, WA. from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Choice perennials will be provided by some of the best gardeners in Ferry County. Treasure hunters can comb Grandma's Attic for unique and fun items. This year's event includes a silent auction. Snacks, coffee and tea available. Call Donna for more info at (509) 779-4833.
  • April 10. Ferry County Business Professional Women have set Saturday, April 10, 2010 for their annual Bingo Scholarship FUNd-Raiser. 6:00 p.m. at the Carousel Building. Call (509) 775-3053 for more information.
  • April 15. Turkey season starts in Eastern Washington and runs through May 31, 2010.
  • April 17. 2010 35th Annual Conservation Plant Sale. Participants can pick up plant orders at the Ferry County Fairgrounds from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. For more information email ferrycountyfair at rcabletv.com.

May

  • May 1. Community Yard Sale 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For only $5, the Malo Grange will provide you with a 10'x12' space to hold your own yard sale right by the highway. Call (509) 775-8997 to reserve your space.

  • May 17. The North Country Writers are sponsoring their 4th annual writers conference the third weekend in September. Friday evening, will be the Writer's Networking Dessert Social at the Northern Inn and the conference will be held all day Saturday at the Republic Elementary School's multi-purpose room. A continental breakfast and a great lunch will be provided. Registration fee is $35 and can be paid at the door, although we prefer you pre-register. Speakers will be announced at a future date.   • May 30 & 31. Republic Volunteer Fire Department's Annual Memorial Weekend Breakfast at the Republic Fire Hall from 7-11 a.m. Republic, WA.

  • June 6. The town of Curlew is holding its annual Barrel Derby celebration. The day begins with a pancake breakfast. Buy Derby tickets and win big money if you guess when the barrel will arrive in Curlew after it's tossed in the Kettle River. For additional information, visit www.curlewcivicclub.org.
  • June 6. The Arts Council's 9th-annual Ansorge Artists' Affaire will be held during Barrel Derby Days in historic Curlew, Washington.

  • June 18. The Friends of the Library are holding their Semi-Annual Book Sale. Scheduled for Friday, June 18 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, June 19 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Located in the basement of the library in Republic, Washington. Donations gratefully accepted.
  • June 21-24. Pioneer Arts Camp for Kids.

  • July 9, 10, 11. Northwest Firefighter Bike Rally. They will shut down the street and hold a street dance featuring the band “Kahler” and a local group “The Robin Ellis Band.” Republic, Wa.

August

  • Aug 7. Mountain Music Festival. 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Ferry County Fair Stage, Republic, WA.

  • Aug 21, 22. Shakespearean Play.
  • Aug 21. Rockin' Republic Musicfest at the Eagle Track Raceway Park. Five bands will perform from 3 p.m. until nearly midnight. $15.00 for adults; kids under 12 are free. $5.00 campsites available.   • September 11. Harvest Market & Community Yard Sale 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. For only $5, the Malo Grange will provide you with a 10'x12' space to hold your own yard sale right by the highway. Be sure to bring your entry for the Giant Zucchini Contest to win bragging rights for the year. Call (509) 775-8997 to reserve your space.
  • September 18. Fourth Annual Marius Ciais Memorial Honky Tonk Petanque Tournament in beautiful Republic, WA. Petanque is similar to horseshoes and bocce ball. Create your own team of three and join in the fun. Cash prizes awarded.

October

  • TBD. Curlew’s annual Duck Derby. Sponsor a duck for only a buck and you could win big. Ducks hit the water at noon and cash prizes are awarded for the first ducks to cross the finish line.   • December 13. Holiday Celebration Potluck 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Malo Grange will provide a nice warm hall to celebrate the holidays. White Elephant drawings 'till they are gone. Bring your family, a food item to share, and a white elephant gift for each member of your party. Be ready to add your voice to the Christmas carols (words provided, for those of us with short memories).
