A handicrafts shop tucked in a big-little house in Republic, Washington....
Don't let the seemingly small exterior of Helen's Gift Shop fool you into thinking there won't be much to see inside. Owner Helen Ritzschke, 83-year-old native of Republic, Washington, has used nearly every room in her surprisingly spacious home to display her large collection of handicrafts and sprinkling of antiques.
Located next door to the Stonerose Interpretive Center in Republic, Washington, Helen's Gift Shop has room-after-room of cuddly stuffed bears (Helen's been collecting bears since the early 1900's), numerous wall hangings and coverlets, baby blankets, quilts, afghans, crochet doilies and tablecloths, dolls, and decorated dustbins and fly swatters. Helen also has antiques for sale, including 200 Avon aftershave bottles, which she proudly sells for less than their appraised value.
Hours
Open Monday - Wednesday, 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.; and all-day Saturday.
