Rocks and grasses surrounded by snow.

After a relatively dry winter, snowfall blankets the hills of Ferry County, Washington.  The Republic area received 5-6 inches of snow on January 20, in the first true winter storm of the season.  Plows have cleared the roads, wood stoves in small cottages are burning bright, and delighted snowmobilers and cross-country skiers are enjoying trails covered with deep, dry snow.
